Trafford Park is an access job before it is a lifting job
Trafford Park is one of the densest industrial estates in the country, and it shows in the work. Yards are tight, the roads between units are shared, and half the time the thing that needs lifting sits behind a roller door that opens straight onto a service road with vans parked down both sides of it. The lift itself is rarely the difficult part. Getting the lorry into a position where the boom can reach is.
We are based at Miles Platting, so Trafford is a short run for us, out through Salford on the A57 or round the M60 and in at junction 9 or 10. We do not have a depot in Trafford and we do not pretend to. We travel out to you, and from our yard that is twenty minutes or so on most mornings.
Away from the Park it is a different borough again. Stretford, Urmston and Davyhulme are largely residential, with narrow entries and back gardens to work over. Sale, Timperley and Hale bring garden rooms, pods and machines that have to go over a fence. Old Trafford and Emirates Old Trafford sit on the edge of it all, and we have worked on and around both.

How quickly can you get a lorry into Trafford Park?
It is about twenty minutes from our yard on a normal morning, out along the A57 and over into the Park, or round the M60 if the city is busy. If you get in touch early enough we can often get to you the same day, and a next morning slot is usually straightforward.
Is there a travel charge for coming out to Trafford?
Not as a separate line for anywhere in Trafford. The journey is short enough that it is part of the price rather than an add on. What does change the price is how long we are on site, and access is what decides that.
Our unit door opens straight onto a shared service road. Is that a problem?
It is the most common situation on Trafford Park and we work with it every week. The lorry sets its legs down on the service road, we lift in or out through the door, and we keep it as tight and as short as we can. Tell us whether the road is one way and whether anything else needs to get past while we are there.
Can you work on a Saturday morning?
Yes. We run Saturday mornings until half twelve, which suits jobs on estates that are quiet at the weekend or units that cannot stop work midweek. Book it in advance if you can, because Saturday slots go quickly.
How much does the access in Trafford change the price?
How we get in off the main road, whether the gate or the yard entrance is wide enough for a rigid, what the ground is like where we have to stand, and whether there are overhead cables or a low canopy above the drop. Mention parked cars too. On a shared estate road they are usually the thing that holds a lift up.
