Straight up the M66, and ground that keeps rising
Bury is one of the easier boroughs for us to reach. We work out of Miles Platting in Manchester, so it is a straight run up the M66 and we are usually there inside half an hour. Prestwich and Whitefield are barely a journey at all. There is no yard of ours in Bury, we travel to you, but the distance is short enough that same day jobs happen often.
What marks the area out is the ground. South of the town, around Whitefield, Radcliffe and the Pilsworth and Heywood distribution estates, it is flat and open, and the work is straightforward container, cabin and palletised delivery on level concrete. Head north towards Tottington and Ramsbottom and the land climbs into the Irwell valley. Drives get steeper, lanes narrow, and verges get soft after rain.

How long does it take you to reach Bury?
Twenty minutes to half an hour from the yard outside the rush, straight up the M66. Prestwich and Whitefield are closer than that. Ramsbottom and Tottington add a little because the last part is off the motorway and slower going.
Is the trip up from Manchester charged on top?

Our drive is on a slope. Does that stop you?
Not by itself, and it is a common question round Ramsbottom and the Irwell valley. The lorry has to be levelled and the outriggers have to bear on something solid before anything is lifted, so a slope means more time and more care rather than a no. Tell us how steep it is and what the surface is.
