People get in touch expecting us to say no to anything past the North West. We do not. Manchester is where the yard is, not where the work stops. Sitting between the M60 and the M6 means a lorry can be on the motorway within minutes of loading, and from there the rest of the country is a driving day.
We move loads across England, Scotland and Wales every week. Long runs down the M5 and the M54, up the M6 and over the border, out to the coast for a ferry, and plenty of places with no motorway anywhere near them. The lorry that collects your load is the lorry that lifts it into place when it gets there.
That matters more on a long job than a short one. If the transport and the lifting are two separate bookings, they have to meet at a point hundreds of miles from either of you, and whichever one arrives first waits. Put both on the same vehicle and there is nothing to coordinate.

Planned once, from the collection to the lift
A long job is only as good as the planning behind it. Before a lorry leaves the yard we want to know when the collection point can load us, whether the site at the far end can take a vehicle of that size, what the ground is like when we get there, and who will be on site to take the delivery. Sorting all that out in advance is what stops a two hundred mile run turning into a wasted day.
Our drivers are ALLMI and CPCS trained and we are FORS Bronze, which the bigger sites usually want to see before they let a vehicle in. If your site needs paperwork ahead of arrival, ask us when you book and we will get it over.

Being in Manchester, how far will you actually travel?
England, Scotland and Wales. We are on the M60 and the M6 within minutes of the yard, so the whole motorway network is on our doorstep. We have run jobs up to Aberdeen and Inverness and across to Holyhead, and we do long runs every week.
Does the same lorry do the collection and the lift?
Yes, and that is the point of it. The vehicle that picks the load up is the vehicle that sets it down at the other end. There is nothing to hand over halfway and nobody to meet you at the far end with lifting kit.
Is a long distance job priced differently?
It is priced on the same things as a local one, the vehicle, the time and the access, with the mileage on top. What often helps is planning around it. A load going one way sometimes pairs with something coming back, and that shows up in the price.
Can you collect from a supplier and deliver to my site?
Yes, and a lot of our long distance work is exactly that. You buy the item, tell us where it is, and we collect it, carry it and install it. You do not have to be at the collection end at all.
How long does a job at the other end of the country take?
Most are a full day. Some are two, either because of driving hours or because the site cannot receive us until the following morning. We will tell you which it is when we quote rather than after.
What do you need to know to price a long run?
Both postcodes, what the item is, and the access at each end. Access at the far end matters most, because it decides which vehicle sets off from Manchester in the first place. Email us and describe it.
